varieties
of
coconuts
that
vary
in
size,
color,
husk,
and
internal
tissue.
In
the
Philippines
there
are
strains
that
have
very
large
nuts
so
that
only
3000
are
requires
to
produce
a
ton
of
copra
(the
dried
white
flesh)
instead
of
the
usual
6000.
Another
variety
is
the
dwarf
Malayan
coconut
that
is
shorter
than
the
usual
tree,
with
fruits
that
are
golden
color.
The
Philippine
variety,
Makapuno,
has
a
fruit
that
the
interior
is
filled
with
soft
sweet
tissue
used
as
a
delicacy
at
the
Philippine
table.
In
Sri
Lanka
a
variety
called
Nawasi
which
has
a
soft,
edible
husk.
