There
are
no
grading
standards
in
the
U.S.
for
coconuts.
Select Coconuts heavy for their
size. The milk should be heard when the coconut is shaken, or it will be
dry,
make
sure
no
mold
is
present,
and
that
the
eyes
at
the
base
are
not
wet
or
pierced.
Coconuts are usually marketed without their husks.
Should it become necessary to husk one, set the coconut upright, small
pointed end down. Using two shovels, back to back, place the tips on the
stem and pry husk apart.
