Shape   Elongated cylinder, blunt apex, 2.25 inches long by .5 inches wide

The name comes from Serranias, meaning foothills, because it is believed that it originated in the foothills north of Puebla in Mexico.  Like the jalapeno, the Serrano does not dry well.
