Yellowmouth Grouper (Mycteropera interstitialis)

Plentiful in the southeast U.S. especially the Carolinas this Grouper is found through Florida and the tropical American Atlantic.

The Yellowmouth is light brownish-gray with compressed dark brown spots on the upper half of the body and yellowing around its jaws.

This is a small fish that can be 4 pounds but is usually marketed in the 2 pound range.
