Amberjack (Seriola dumerili)

Found on the western Atlantic Coast from Cape Cod to Brazil with the largest concentrations from North Carolina south.  Concentrations are also found along the west coast of Africa to the Mediterranean.

The Amberjack can reach weights up to 160 pounds but the fish up to 15 pounds are best eating.

Amberjacks are well known for carrying parasites which should be monitored especially in the larger fish.

Smoking is the preparation of choice in Florida but amberjack is also a good chowder fish.
