Mainly a coastal
species this solitary fish is found on reefs through out the Indo-West
Pacific: Kenya to southern Mozambique eastward to the western Pacific..
Grows to 12 inches. Often used for human consumption. Feeds mainly on fish
and crustaceans. Following the declines in larger groupers in the Hong
Kong area, this species has become a significant component of the grouper
catch in the area.
