Oilfish (Ruvettus pretiosus)

Found from 300 to 200 feet deep and Widely distributed in tropical and temperate waters of the world.  Members of the Snake Mackerel Family and fed on crustacean, small fish and squid. Oilfish are rarely caught by sport fisherman due to the depth at which they live but commercial longliners are quite familiar with them.

Oilfish is considered by many people and many government bodies to be poisonous. Not that they might kill you but oilfish have been known to give people diarrhea.

Considered to be a very good tasting fish
