Virginia peanuts have the largest
kernel size and account for most of the peanuts roasted and eaten in their
shells. When shelled, the larger kernels are sold as snack peanuts.
Virginias are grown mainly in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North
Carolina. Virginia peanuts account for about 20% of total U.S.
production.**
