Native to scrublands of central Brazil this is a Relative of the cashew tree. Produces a fruit (nut) very similar to the common cashew and a swollen fruit stalk much smaller and slightly more acid tasting than the cashew apple.

Fruit is eaten fresh, nut is roasted and eaten.
