One of the oldest grains, barley formed a part of the
religious rites of many Old World peoples. Once used in the making of
bread, today its main use is in the brewing industry or as livestock feed.
Barley sprouts have a nutlike flavor that makes that makes them suitable
for use anywhere you would use what , oats, or rice particularly in
breads, soups, and casserole dishes. The optimum sprouting time is 3
to 5 days and the length of the sprout can be no longer than the seed.
