Mutton Snapper  (Lutjanus analis) Muttonfish

A shallow water snapper found from South Florida throughout the Tropical Atlantic this snapper usually weights from five to ten pounds but 15 to 20 pounders are not uncommon in the Keys and Bahamas.

The mutton snapper has a olive green back with orange sides and dark red fins.  It is said that this snapper rivals the red and silk snapper in texture and flavor making it a great eating fish.
