Dog Snapper (Lutjanus Jocu) pargo pero

Found from South Florida through the Tropical American Atlantic this is a medium sized snapper that reaches a weight of 20 pounds.  With similar coloration to the Cubera Snapper, dusky gray or greenish base coloration tinged with red along the sides, this snapper is easily recognized by its large fanglike teeth.

The Dog Snapper has been involved with several cases of ciguatera poisoning and has been labeled as a fish not to be eaten so it is not marketed in the United States.
