Cero Mackerel (Scomheromorus regalis) Pintado, Painted Mackerel

Resembling the Spanish Mackerel it has an additional row of golden spots and golden stripes on its sides. It has a wide range from Cape Code to Brazil but most prevalent from Florida from the West Indies.

A larger Mackerel this fish reaches a weight of 35 pounds but most in the market average 5 to 10 pounds.

More delicately flavored than most mackerel steaked smoked or charcoal broiled are great preparations for this fish.
