The cap of this mushroom is miter-shaped, always pointed, and a
pale-gray-yellow-brown color. The folds are thick, puffy and matted.
The cap of older plants is brown or black. The stalk is smooth and
pale. The top is fragile, with a fine smooth texture
This morel grows in moss in mountain
woods, in woody meadows, and burned out patches of ground.
