History  Cinnamon is one of the oldest known spices in recorded history.  Mentioned in the Bible in Exodus 30, God instructed Moses to prepare a holy anointing oil containing two hundred fifty shekels of sweet cinnamon.... and olive oil.  It is also mentioned as a body perfume.

Nero, the emperor of Rome in the first century A.D., burned a year's supply of cinnamon on his wife's funeral pyre.

In China it is believed that the Tree of Life in Paradise is a cassia tree.
