Rutabaga, Root

also known as Swedes because their name is of Swedish
derivation, of the mustard family and a cross between a turnip and
a cabbage. Rutabagas are larger, sweeter and denser than turnips with less
moisture. All carrot preparations are suitable for rutabaga, they
can be roasted, boiled, stuffed, mashed, and there is even a rutabaga
pudding. A Norwegian favorite is mixing the rutabaga with mashed
potatoes.Seasonings: nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice
and mace
