Chives
Similar but smaller than spring onion they grow in bunches of
grass-like, dark green hallow cylindrical leaves from 6 to 9” long. Deep
green and mildly aromatic, with a less pungent flavor than scallions, they can be used as a garnish or chopped into
butter, cream cheese or sour cream for a slightly onion flavor addition.
The green tops are also cut and used in salads, soups, dips, soft cheeses
and sauces.
Beautiful in full bloom with small round pink-purple
flowers which can be used as a garnish.
