Tioga
originated in California in 1955 and was introduced in 1964.  The berries are large and long conic shape.  They have a firm flesh and a tough skin. The appearance is good even if overripe and is considered of good dessert quality.  The Tioga is a leading variety of California and is planted in summer and winter.  In California plants produce an exceptionally heavy crop for over two months beginning in March or April.  This variety is also grown as a winter crop in Florida.
