Tioga
originated
in
California
in
1955
and
was
introduced
in
1964.
The
berries
are
large
and
long
conic
shape.
They
have
a
firm
flesh
and
a
tough
skin.
The
appearance
is
good
even
if
overripe
and
is
considered
of
good
dessert
quality.
The
Tioga
is
a
leading
variety
of
California
and
is
planted
in
summer
and
winter.
In
California
plants
produce
an
exceptionally
heavy
crop
for
over
two
months
beginning
in
March
or
April.
This
variety
is
also
grown
as
a
winter
crop
in
Florida.
