Fresno  originated in California in 1955 and was introduced in 1961.  The berries are large, long conic shaped, firm fleshed with a bright red skin.   the caps are easily removed and the variety is recommended for summer planting only.  This variety is specially adapted to the southern California area where it delivers a moderately heavy crop in the spring and a heavy crop in the summer.
