Preparation Wash before eating raw. Wash
and dry and peel, core, slice, quarter or cube for cooking. In some cases
the peel may be left on. Remove most of the core and peel a strip from the
top of the apple for baking. Peeled and sliced apples turn brown upon
exposure to air. They should be sprinkled with lemon juice or any citrus
fruit juice as soon as they are peeled. The apples which are slow to
discolor upon exposure to air are: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and
Cortlands. It is wise to use these varieties for salads, fruit cups and
all recipes where the raw, peeled apple is used.Cooking Bake apples for 40 to 60 minutes
at 375-400° F.
