Prunes are generally available whole or pitted in 1 and 2-pound boxes, and pitted in 12-ounce packages. They are also available loose, and as juice.

Storage: Ripen hard fruit at room temperature, refrigerate soft-ripe fruit

Serve  Stewed as a breakfast course or a dessert; out of the box if moist as a snack; as prune juice; as a flavoring for yogurt; in puddings; baking, pies, and infant food.
