Hubbard Available from late August to March, this variety is harvested at 10 to 16 inches in length, and 9 to 12 inches in diameter at its widest point. Globular in shape with a fairly thick, tapered neck at the stem and somewhat smaller taper at the blossom end. Thick, orange yellow and sweet flesh is surrounded by a very hard and strong rind, with a warted and ridged skin of dark bronze green, or blue gray, or orange red. There are variations of the Hubbard are the Blue Hubbard, Golden Hubbard, and Warted Hubbard. |
