squash

named
because
of
its
turban
like
cap
at
the
blossom
end.
The
shape
of
the
Buttercup
is
somewhat
drum-like,
with
sides
tapering
the
apex
and
a
protuberant
turban
2
to
3
inches
in
diameter.
The
squash
is
harvested
at
4
to
5
inches
in
length
and
6
to
8
inches
in
diameter,
with
a
skin
that
is
dark
ivy
green
to
dull
blackish
green
spotted
grayish
markings
and
faintly
striped
with
dull
gray.
The
turban
on
the
squash
is
light
gray
or
blue
gray.
The
flesh
is
orange,
dry
and
sweet,
and
of
fine
texture
with
a
small
seed
cavity
and
surrounded
by
a
smooth
hard
shell.
