With the introduction of the peanut to the Philippines and Macau it didn't
take long to make its way to Indonesia where cooking with peanuts has
become a main stay to their cuisine. The famous Satay dishes, Sambals and
Curries which are based on coconut milk and peanut butter along with
chiles (which came from the Americas), go hand in hand.
An interesting note is that the Satay is
thought to be from Thailand when it actually comes from Java, Indonesia. It was introduced there by Arab
traders as a peanut curry sauce for kabobs.
