Republican  also known as the Black Republican  or Lewelling, originated in the mid 1800s in the orchard of Seth Lewelling in Milwaukee Oregon.  The fruit matures late, is about 1 inch in diameter, heart shaped to roundish, purplish black with purple red flesh and dark colored juice.
