Blueberries
have a lush flesh and thick skins. The blue pigment in their skins
make blueberries a powerful antioxidant. The smaller more intensely
flavored wild blueberries are more nutritious than their large farmed
relatives.
Blueberry
and
Huckleberry
are
often
used
interchangeably,
but
the
fact
is
that
the
Huckleberry
belongs
to
the
genus Gaylussacia,
while
the
Blueberry
belongs
to
the
genus
Vaccinium.
Other
differences
are
that
the
huckleberry
has
10
large
seeds
surrounded
by
a
covering
or
pit
while
the
blueberry
has
two
or
three
times
as
many
seeds
as
the
huckleberry,
but
they
are
small
and
not
noticeable
when
eaten.
Blueberries
are
cultivated,
while
huckleberries
are
not.
