Bibb  Small early mid season, plant loose and spreading when young, compact when mature, leaves short, closely clustered to form a compact globular head, not overlapping, dark green with some red pigment, thick smooth, brittle, excellent quality, delicate buttery flavor, sweet and tender.  After being introduced in 1890 as Half Century it disappeared for a time and returned later under the names Bibb and erroneously as Limestone.
