Apple Pie

Pie Crust


Deep Dish Apple Pie

yield: 1 nine inch deep dish pie
1 1/2 cups sugar, granulated
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
teaspoon nutmeg, ground
1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1/4 teaspoon  salt
12 cups Granny Smith or other tart apple sliced in 1/8 sections (about 10 ea)
2 Tablespoons butter
1 ea egg white
1 1/2 Tablespoons water
   
Preparation

Preheat oven to 420°F

Mix egg white and water together, then brush the pie crust thoroughly to glaze.  Bake another 10 to 15 minutes until the crust is brown and the juices in the pie are bubbling.
