Hamlin
   Generally considered the best of the early maturing oranges it is the most important early variety in Florida and is also a variety used in Texas.  It ripens from October to January.  The acidity and sweetness are well blended giving it excellent flavor.  The rind is smooth and glossy, usually thin and this variety has few or no seeds.  The fruit color is orange to cadmium orange, the shape is globose to slightly oval, the size is medium, diameter of 2 1/2 to 2 7/8 inches, membranes tender, juice is abundant of light orange color and of excellent quality.
