Lisbon Lemon  believed to be of Portuguese origin was first referenced in a catalogue in California in 1853 from the Warren and Sons Nursery in Sacramento.  Samuel P.Stow of Goleta California imported Lisbon trees from Australia in 1874 and shared the trees with Thomas Garey of Los Angles who propagated and distributed the variety.
