Duncan - The original
seedling from which the Duncan was established was found in the old
Snedicor or Davy grove near Safety Harbor on Florida, Pinellas peninsula.
It lived to be nearly 100 years old. The seed from which the Duncan
was grown came from a tree planted by Count Philippe about 1825. The
Variety was propagated and first named and distributed by A.L. Duncan of
Dunedin, Florida about 1892. It has been successfully introduced
into all countries that grapefruit is grown in today. It is a
preferred variety in processing because of the firmness of the flesh.
