Serrated-edge knives are more finely toothed than saw-edged and the points are cut on only one side and not set like saw teeth. They can be sharpened on the flat side on a steel in the normal way. The edge is used to cut soft smooth foods such as grapefruits, oranges, tomatoes, and bread.
