Tilton
This is
orange to light yellow, often blushed. The fruit is medium-sized to small,
oval and distinctly compressed, having a flat appearance, with the suture
more noticeable than in the Royal. The flesh is somewhat lighter in color
than Royal. It blooms and ripens somewhat later. The trees tend to bear
alternate heavy and light crops but are prolific in the good years. Tilton
was originated in King's County, Calif., by J. E. Tilton in 1885.
