Comice Pear  The parent tree came from the first seed bed made in the fruit garden of the Comice Horticole at Angers, France.  In November 1849, it produced its first fruit which at once became highly esteemed.  It reached America about 1850. Doyenne du Comice is a temperamental variety which reaches perfection only under limited conditions of soil, climate and location.
