Winter Nelis a small to medium
size fruit, roundish oblong, fairly thick but tender skin roughened with a
little russeting, dull green or yellowish in color, not attractive.
The flesh is fine except for grit at the center, buttery, moderately
juicy, spicy, rich flavor, rates high in dessert quality, late keeper but
has a tendency to decay in storage. On the market October to May
with peak in October.
