Anjou This is supposed to
be a French pear, but its origin is obscure. There is evidence it
originated with Van Mons at Louvain, Belgium in 1819 and appeared in the
Van Mons catalog in 1823 under the name of Nec Plus Meuris. The
Anjou was introduced in this country by Col. Wilder of Boston about 1842.
