It
is
almost
ideally
adapted
to
market
requirements
as
to
size,
color,
long
season,
or
maturity,
and
hardiness.
It
is
not
adaptable
to
growing
in
Florida.
The Fuerte
is
a
Guatemalan/Mexican
hybrid
that
was
brought
as
bud
wood
to
California
from
Mexico
in
1911.
The
fruit
is
green,
pear-shaped,
8
to
16
oz.,
thin,
pliable
and
leathery,
somewhat
pebbled
skin.
The
flavor
is
very
good.
