New York Purple 30 to 36 inches tall, large, erect large leafed and branched with 5 to 8 fruit per plant.

Fruit: Deep purple, smooth, uniform, broad oval to blunt egg shape, very good quality.

Developed in Long Island in 1850.  Have been improved in New York to be spineless.
