The Northeastern Region of the United States includes Maine, New England,
Massachusetts, New York. and the surrounding area inland areas. Many great
dishes have become classics from the region. On the coast, clam bakes were
first introduced to the pilgrims by the local natives. The famous Baked
Beans from Boston were brought about by the religion of the Pilgrims and
Jewish people today, as they were prohibited cooking on the Sabbath. The
women would take their pots of beans with pork strap and molasses or maple
sugar to the baker to be placed in the oven at night: and they would
slowly cook all night long, and be ready to be eaten the next day after
church.
