Radishes are often grouped as winter, summer, and spring types , but this is a mistake since radishes will grow in any season if the conditions are right.  A better grouping of the American varieties would be by shape, the general classes being, turnip shaped, oblong, long, oval and globular (often called round). which are the most popular.
