Danvers Neck  long, medium sized to large averaging 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter at the mid point of attachment to the main root.

Shoulder           same color as the root but occasionally slightly tinged with very light green,  smooth, typically shot tapered
Surface              typically smooth and free from deep depressions
Skin Color        deep red orange
Base                  short coned, but on poor strains long coned shape.
Length               6 to 7 inches 
Diameter           Shoulder   2 to 2 1/2 inches
                            mid length 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches
Flesh                  medium thick, course grained, tender, crisp
Flesh Color      bright orange
Core                   large, comprising on an average about 45% of the area of a cross section at mid length, distinct, usually tender but occasionally fibrous in older and more mature carrots.  Color- light yellowish orange.
