Persian the most extensively grown variety grown commercially.  The fruit surface is smooth, even or faintly lobed, oval or elliptical in shape.  The size is large with an average diameter when fully ripe of 2 5/16ths inches and an average length of 2 3/4 inches, with a rounded base, and a smooth, sometimes slightly ribbed with a rind of 1/8 to 3/16 inches thick.  The oil glands are small, with 10 segments and tender membranes, light greenish yellow pulp, very acidic, highly flavored, very few or no seeds,.  The fruit color when fully ripe is light orange but the limes are marketed when mature and green.  The fruit matures year round.
