the
thornless
variety
of
the
Evergreen
was
discovered
near
Stayton
Oregon
in
1926.
The
origin
of
the
thorny
Evergreen
is
unknown
but
it
was
being
grown
in
Europe
as
early
as
1809.
Berries
are
large,
exceptionally
firm,
sweet,
seeds
are
large,
the
season
is
late
to
very
late,
and
ripening
continues
beyond
when
other
blackberries
are
picked.
Bushes
vigorous,
semi-hardy,
deep
rooted,
drought
resistant,
productive,
semi
trailing,
one
of
the
best
varieties
in
Oregon
and
Washington
but
not
adapted
to
the
states
east
of
the
Rocky
Mountains
except
New
Jersey.
