Rock crabs are caught off the New England and
California coast and are consumed at the local level.
The Rock Crab will grow up to 4 1/2 inches wide. Reddish with closely
spaced purplish spots, whitish to creamy yellow underneath. It can be
found on rock, sand, or gravel bottoms, in estuaries and on open shores
around the low-tide line.
