ACIDOPHILUS MILK. Pasteurized skim milk, cultured
with Lactobacilus acidophilus, and incubated at 100ºF, is
called acidophilus milk. This tart milk, available in only a few
communities, is sometimes used to combat excessive intestinal
putrefaction by changing the bacterial flora of the intestine.
As a therapeutic product, its use may be prescribed after anti-biotic treatment to help reestablish a normal balance of
bacterial flora in the intestine.
