MULTIPLE FORTIFIED MILK can be fortified with
substances such as vitamins A, D, multi-vitamin preparations,
minerals, lactose, and nonfat dry milk. The substance added,
and the amount of fortification, will vary depending on the
dairy company. The dairy company, in turn, conforms to the
state standards for multiple fortified milk, where these
standards exist. Usually the products and amounts added
must be declared on the label. Fortified milks will also vary in
fat content. They can be made with whole, partially skimmed,
or skim milk.
